Why does my bike skip gears?please help!10 pts?

i have a Schwinn mountain bike i dont know the model .

my problem is the when i pedal hard the chain makes a a loud sound like its adjusting but it never adjust. this happens only when i pedal hard or stand up and pedal.

i just got it fixed they changed the derailleurs the chain they tuned it up and everything down there but when i took it for a quick test run around the bike shop it did the same thing.

im taking it on a bike trail tomorrow and really test it but in the mean while.

what can be the cause of this if it keeps happening.?

do i changed gears wrong? on the left side its a 3 on the right a 6

do i pedal to hard is the bike to weak for me.? fyi its my size.60cm

when i first got it it didnt make a sound it was perfect it never skipped no matter how hard i pedaled

any advice would be i will be asking all these questions to the bike shop dude tommotow but just so i can have more knowlgedWhy does my bike skip gears?please help!10 pts?
could be

cheap bike

worn cassette

incorrect adjustment [most likely]

gear 3 and 6 should be fine, shouldn;t cause skipping

if it did it in the bike shop - why didn;t you just ask then, when you were actually there?

You say your derailleurs and chain were replaced, but you don't mention the cassette. If it was not changed, it is the most likely culprit. Worn cassettes are the most common cause of this sort of problem when a chain has been replaced, the new chain will not fit into the worn cogs and will skip a few teeth as soon as you put pressure on your pedals.
check frt derailleur for height above chainring, and side adj, I 'll bet your chain is rubbing the sides of the cage when you pedal hard, there are 2 screws on the derailleur for adj
Is the chain damaged ot the gear..

It could also be the low and high stop position isn't right.

Or they put on the wrong derailleurs.
poorly tuned derailleur would be my first suggestion to check
You have a low quality 18 speed bike don't expect too much.
