Trans is on its way out. Its slips and sometimes does not change gears. Could go at any time.Trying to budget...any idea how much a new transmission on a 2000 Ford Explorer will run?
approx. $3,000Trying to budget...any idea how much a new transmission on a 2000 Ford Explorer will run?
i'd say around $1000 for the new trans. and labor. that's pretty sad for a model year 2000...how many miles??
It depends on what type drive. 2 or 4 wheel.Oem unit plus labor looks like it will use up most of $3000.00. Rebuit about $ 1000less..
I would say about $1000 - $1500 that would included parts and labor. Actually not a huge job. Alot of the price is in the new transmission. You should also look into to getting a rebuilt transmission, they offer a good warranty with rebuids and a little cheaper.

Before doing this try to use an additive that could cure this problem. Transmission medic. Just add the bottle and it eliminates alot of the slipping.
Just wondering if you ever had the fluid changed.

Only use an ATRA certified local repair shop. DO NOT go to a transmission store like AAMCO or MrTransmission.
