What is causing my car to jerk forward when i go from Park to Drive?

My car jerks forward when i go from park to drive. At first i thought it was the transmission but the car has no trouble changing gears (automatic). And it doesn't seem to matter how warm or cold it is either; it will happen both before i leave for work in the mornings when it is cool, and when i'm leaving work for home when it's hot.

I plan on taking it to be looked at but i wanted and idea of what this could be so i don't get talked into unnecessary work at the garage. What is causing my car to jerk forward when i go from Park to Drive?
Check the level of your automatic transmission fluid. If dark in color then have it changed. The damage could have already been done by diry fluid or it could be a worn out ';U'; joint that couples the transmission to the rear differential. What is causing my car to jerk forward when i go from Park to Drive?
well your suppose to have your foot on the brake when you shift from park.to drive, it may be your engine idle is set a bit high but sounds just like it is engaging just fine
