Need to change the gears in a ford 9in rear end, need info on how to do it?

If you have never done any work with gearing and rear ends I would not suggest attempting this. There is things that have to be just right, such as the back lash. These adjustments have to be made in thousandths of an inch and if they're off just a little you'll just be changing the gears again. It is pretty basic once you know how to do it though. Just take the cover off of the case. Jack the whole rear end of the car up. Drop the drive shaft from the rear end. If you take a look it's pretty obvious how it comes out. Get some one to help you that knows something though for the installation.Need to change the gears in a ford 9in rear end, need info on how to do it?

It is simple. But I would suggest getting a Chilton's or some book similar. The part that will come back to haunt you is the gear clearances. If done wrong, disaster.
