Changing gears without using the clutch pedal.?

Look, I know you can do it, and I know you can also screw up your tranny if you do it badly, don't tell me that. My question is how do you know when the revs are right so it won't hurt the synchro? I'm assuming it's different for every car, so anyone who's done this with an 03 Hyundai Tiburon, any help would be great. Anyone else who can do this, how do you find the right revs? Am I looking high, low, or average like 2000 to 3000?Changing gears without using the clutch pedal.?
It seems a bit unnecessary to wear your car for no reason...

But as far as giving you an rpm number, that's impossible. It depends on your speed, the gear you want to switch to, your gear ratio and a whole lot of other variables.

It's all about feeling the car, you should know the sound your car makes at different speed in different gears. Try practising by rev matching, as that doesn't destroy the synchro.

To rev match, shift out of the gear that you are in and into neutral.

Quickly rev the engine to the rpm that you think the gear you are switching into will need at your current speed.

Quickly shift into the gear that you need and let the clutch out.

If the car didn't jerk at all, you have matched the revs well. You can then move on from that to destroying your gearbox if you like.Changing gears without using the clutch pedal.?
just do it. you'll know right away if you were close or not.
i can do this all day long in trucks or cars and I never once look at the tach..its a feel or listening to the engine, dont force it.
I do not believe car trans are designed to work this way. Trucks can, cause they are designed to, but not cars. If they do, then it's news to me. Besides, are you too lazy to use the clutch anyways?
ok Never driven one but do this in my car all the time first of all its hard to start off with out clutch (but thats another question) so start off practising from 2nd to 3rd ( easy quick change, straight back) rev to probably the mid-high 2000's, now it should fall outta gear into neutral quite easily but dont smash it into 3rd now the second the gear stick moves from secondl foot off the gas now with a lil weight (try just pulling it with 2 fingers so you dont go to hard) the revs will be dropping now and the stick should just fall in when it reaches the right rev (take note of the sound the engine is making at this point dont worry about the tacho reading) now if this works you can start getting quicker with your shifts if not then rev to mid 3's and apply a lil more pressure to the stick and let the revs drop whilst you keep pullen. if i grinds stop straight away you're pullin too hard
I've done it myself and when I've started I have used a truck without synchronized gear box. It took awhile to get the grasp of it. It took a lot of gears grinding and practice. I felt good when I have managed to change without using the clutch pedal. After that, it was like a walk in the park using the technique to each manual transmission I have driven since. I did used the technique also on Tiburon models and works fine. The key is to sense the rev's of when to pull the stick out of gears and at the same time when to push the gear in (without grinding it). Its hard to explain how to do it. You have to feel it. The best advise is to physically take someone with you that knows how to do it and train you on this.

Have fun
