How do i fix my clutch? i cant change gears, i try to shift to 1st and it wont budge, any help please?

i was driving on the road 30 -40mph and i try to shift to 3rd gear and i heard those screeching noise like if the rubber got burnt, idk if i miss the gear, but after that i couldnt change gears anymore and got stuck in traffic, does anyone know what the problem could be and how much it would cost to fix it?How do i fix my clutch? i cant change gears, i try to shift to 1st and it wont budge, any help please?
Sounds as though the clutch is bad based on the smell but the real question is if the tranny itself is ok.

With the engine off and NOT using the clutch can the tranny be shifted into/out of all gears?

If so, it may be only a clutch failure.

If not, there's prolly a tranny problem.

Best bet is to get the vehicle to a competent tranny shop.

Haven't a clue to the cost of repairs to an unknown vehicle.

Don't be surprised to find that manual tranny repairs are more expensive than autos...How do i fix my clutch? i cant change gears, i try to shift to 1st and it wont budge, any help please?
Sounds like you may have fried the clutch, especially with the smell you experienced.
Could be clutch and could be stuck between gears, take to a transmission shop and get an estimate to fix. Could be $500 or more.
If it won't shift from one gear to another, it's the tranny, not the clutch. A clutch simply disengages the engine from the transmission.

At least a manual transmission is cheaper to work on than an automatic.
My best bet is that your clutch cable or clutch pedal system whether it be hydralic or not probably failed....I don't think you fried your clutch the screech sound probably occured when you tried to put in in gear with the clutch still engaged......

good luck
