How can you change gears with motocross boots?

i bought a new pair of boots and it is the first time i bought boots because i didn't think it was necessary. but it seems like i can shift gears on my motorcycle easily like the way i do with my regular shoes. also, taking my shin guard off helps me change it a little bit better. but is there a technique or something i have to know in order to change gears with my boots? How can you change gears with motocross boots?
You just need to wear the boots in as much as you can. Where them around the house. Another suggestion is to leave them out in the sun for a bit.

You may also be finding it hard as the shoes you wore before would most likely bend so you used just your toes to shift. The boots won't bend at the toe so you have to get accustomed to using the whole foot movement to shift and not just focussing on the toes. just break in the boots and it was kinda hard for me to when i changed quads because of how the shifter was positioned, the thing that helped me the most was to just wear the boots every time i rode and you get adjusted to it and it becomes second nature. it will be awkward at first but then you wont even have to think an out it... now it is harder for me to shift in normal shoes...

also on the toe of my boot is a little metal ledge try shifting with that rather than the top of your foot...

that is alot easier to fit under the shifter than your foot... as they said earlier try moving your foot back a little... i have gotten to where i leave that metal piece under the shifter now...

keep riding with them and you will form your own style...

GOOD LUCK!!!
You said nothing about your method of shifting. But I suspect you placed your right foot on the peg with boots in the same position as when you were wearing sneaks or street shoes.

Try moving your foot back an inch or two on the peg. That should give you a little better angle to get your toe under the shifter. It is a little weird to get used to with the fat toes on those boots, but once you've ridden 25 or 30 miles, your foot and you should have gotten used to it.

Good luck.
BREAK THEM IN DUDE..

haha when i got my boots, it was really akward wearing them. But what was really akward was riding with them! It felt like i had stones attatched to my feet, they were soo stiff and heavy! So my mates told me i had to wear tham ALOT to get used to them. So i wore them all day long...haha, even down to my corner shop to buy stiff, even while bycicle riding, and people were looking at me like... 'what the hell is that moron thinking'!? haha, but i was like..to hell with them, - who gives what they think..haha

And now whenever i poot my boots on, it just feels like putting a norman pair of shoes! Not as heavy, and stiff as they used to be. And when you shift, like Cheerleader said, you should try shift with the metal part, but dont just rotate your ankle and shift, you should literraly be taking your foot off the pegs and shifting!
Walk around your house and your neighborhood to break the boots in

Somepeople would say soak the outsides in water then walk around in them.

you need to break them in so they wont be stiff. Then you just have to get used to the big feeling of them.

It will come shortly!
Try highering your shift lever a few notches. This helped me out by being able to fit my boot under it better.
