How do you change gears on a push bike?

Hi can you please help me with my bike gears when i pedal the gears at the front next to the pedals are bent how do you change them any help will do thanksHow do you change gears on a push bike?
Well, if you mean that the really big gear (it's called a chainwheel) that's connected to the pedals is bent, then you'll need to take the bike to your LBS (Local Bike Shop) and get it fixed or replaced because there's nothing you can do by yourself to fix it, sorry!

If that's NOT what you meant, then please explain further, in greater detail, and we'l be happy to help, OK?How do you change gears on a push bike?
If you are meaning that you want to put a new chain wheel onto the cranks?

Remove cranks. You will need an extractor for this if the bike has a cotter less crank system.

Remove the 4 or 5 bolts that secure the chain wheel to the spider. The spider is the pointy out thingy and you will need an allen key and a wide bladed screwdriver.

Fit the new chain ring with the chain set bolts and make sure that is central or you will have an off centre chain ring. Not good.

Refit the cranks.

If you are replacing like with like, all should be o.k., if the chain ring size is different, you will have to alter the derailleur depth.

If you are going to buy a new (or second hand) chain ring, you will have to know the radius of the chain ring bolts in order that they will fit onto your spider.

If the chain ring(s) are permanently fitted to the cranks, simply remove the cranks and replace with a suitable size. If you get a different sized chain set, you might have to replace the bottom bracket to suit.
