New to driving manual, car jerks when i change gears?

i know im either putting too much gas or letting the clutch out too fast or something along the lines of that, how can i fix the jerking every time i change gears? is it just practice or more than that?New to driving manual, car jerks when i change gears?
Definitely just need to practice. I've driven a manual for four years and will never drive an automatic again!! You're probably doing a combination of both. Give it a LITTLE gas before you try to take your foot off of the clutch, and learn to listen to your engine. If it sounds like it's about to 'take off', you've given it too much gas. You don't want your engine revving up too loudly before you let off the clutch, just a little, enough to let you know your car has enough gas to go. And letting the clutch out too quickly will always make it ';jerk'; as well. Let the clutch out slowly slowly slowly!! Even once the gear and locked into place, you don't want to wear out your clutch and have to buy a new one. And of course it depends on the type of vehicle. The newer ones seem to switch gears easier, vehicles like old trucks take a little more practice.

And if you really want to know you've got it down pat, sit on a hill and pull the emergency break. Then give what you think is the appropriate amount of gas and clutch release, at the same time. Slowly release the emergency break. If done correctly, your car should smoothly begin to accelerate up the hill without any trouble, or rolling backwards.New to driving manual, car jerks when i change gears?
You're letting the clutch out too fast... slow down and practice a little more.. :)

Good luck
Impossible to know without seeing you drive, but the most common reason is lifting the clutch too fast or pressing the accelerator too soon - or a combination of both.

Yes, practice will help, as will good tuition.
let the clutch out a little slower while giving it a little gas at the same time, yes it just takes practice.
More practice! You're letting the clutch off too fast.
You've got to let out the clutch as little slower. I remember when my Dad showed me how to drive a car (manual and automatic). He would take me early on the weekends to empty parking lots and we'd practice. Don't pick any that are on busy streets where police might be around. You can drive in the parking lot, but stay in the lanes, that way you won't get in trouble if there is police around. If you do it before the shopping mall opens you should be ok. You need to either take lessons or find someone who is willing to show you how to change gears. Just think of the two pedals as a balancing act. As you ease up on the clutch you have to give it corresponding gas. It's like a balancing act. Good luck! I wouldn't go out on any busy roads until you can master this.
When the car jerks forward when you shift gears, it means you are letting the clutch out too fast and not giving enough gas. If you were giving too much gas and not letting the clutch out fast enough, then the engine would rev pretty hard. It's all about balancing the gas and clutch. Don't worry about it too much. I was the same way, everybody is when they learn to drive manuals. You just have to practice more until you find a perfect consistency and balance point that fits your personal specifications.
