My car is manual and when i change gears it makes a loud pulsing noise. Does that mean my clutch is burnt out?

What is an estimate of how much it would cost to fix?My car is manual and when i change gears it makes a loud pulsing noise. Does that mean my clutch is burnt out?
I am not a mechanic, but my husband is, and here is his response to your question: It would be helpful if he knew the year, make and model of your car. Some early model foreign vehicles would make a pulsing noise when you would shift gears, due to air being drawn in for the air injection system (smog pump). His best advice to you would be to spend around $80 and have the problem properly diagnosed, otherwise you could spend a couple hundred dollars to get the clutch replaced and that may not even be the problem. Most reputable shops will apply the $80 toward the cost of the repairs. Good Luck!My car is manual and when i change gears it makes a loud pulsing noise. Does that mean my clutch is burnt out?
about $400 to change the clutch
$ 110 if you do it your self, i did. that sound is the clutch plate bouncing on and off the fly wheel, or worse the fly wheel may be warped. gl
