Big Daddy is on the right track I would say.
The problem with the clutch/basket is that the steel clutch plates wear a groove in the softer alluminium ot the clutch basket, the plates then cannot slide smoothly causing the a lot of resistance at the clutch lever.
Remove the plates from the clutch basket and gently file the edges of the basket smooth again. This can only be done a few times before the basket becomes too thin and will need replacing.
A quickshifter will cost a lot of moey and not solve the problem, over time it will just make the wear even worse until even more damage is caused to the engine!Any way to make a clutch and gears easier?
Is it a cable clutch? Make sure it is lubed ok, %26amp; the cable routed correctly. If in doubt, buy a new cable %26amp; set it up as per manual.
Once you have done that, you may find the gearchange is better...
Hi
Is it cable or hydraulic?
Disconnect the cable from the clutch actuator arm and try the movement of the cable using the clutch lever, if its nice and free you might have problems with your clutch and basket.
but the other way if the cable is tight then disconnect the cable from the clutch lever(handle bar end) and check both cable and lever movement.
A question of elimination.
But to me it sounds like a clutch / basket problem.
Hope this helps
